12:52:04 Mila slept past her alarm again, and by the time she was rising the rest of her room mates who, to be fair did try to wake the slothful girl prior to leaving her to her own demise, were already in the Crux bathroom. Leaping to her feet she was sprinting like Usain, for the bathrooms, having a record quick shower and missing breakfast again. Wasting precious moments to check her crumpled time-table, given that it was Thursday she was beginning the day in Elixirs. While her fingers frantically fastened the small buttons of her white, school blouse her eyes were on the wooden chest at the foot of her bed, glazed with concentration that was a credit to her ability to multi-task. With the shift of her head twice she was wedging the correct two tomes and notebooks needed for her first periods, without so much as touching them nor ceasing her buttoning. Her long, sleek hair flicked over her face annoyingly as she launched herself at the edge of the bed to roll on stockings and hook them to each respective garter clasp. The girl stepped into mary-jane shoes with a slight heel on her way to the door, stooped to buckle them and was grabbing for her books almost all in the same moment. In a flurry, she darted from her dormitory. Her heels clicked with each step and she was likely the last person in Crux implying that everyone had gotten prepared for the day, headed down for breakfast and returned to collect their books and leave again. Racing against the clock she sprinted for Elixirs. With her heart rampantly beating beneath her breast, she just skidded to a halt while the last students or few were ushering there way inside. Made it. Being late to a class taught by Dryke was not something anyone wanted to be. Mentally praising Jesus, thanking her lucky stars and performing the sign of the cross she released a few, laboured breaths while sliding into the stool beside Chase who was just as like already there. In Elixirs the wooden benches were as tall as lab counters, complete with a stove and small sink. There were cupboards with more equipment, shelves with stores on each side and behind them were two stools – for Elixirs partners. To one side she would have Chase, and to her other Trix would be seated, her partner on the other side of her. Not daring to speak, she mouthed a simple Hello. to both of them and set her books down.
13:03:13 Trix made it class well before it started, as usual for the per functionary student. Trix was never late, unlike Mila who skittered in last minute. Though it was common for Mila to always be running somewhere. Sometimes she merely tired Trix out by just watching the girl. Seated upon her stool, legs dangled precariously swaying lightly on their own accord as Trix gazed down toward the open text before her. Reading ahead on the day’s lesson was always a good thing, which Trix prided herself upon doing. The words were easily swayed into the mindful sponge of Trix, who was currently receiving an A plus in the class for both good behaviour, homework and of course, the lessons on the whole. She prided herself on being the smart one, book smarts and the like. It was in her nature to read and soak in what information she could. Her long blond hair was pulled back today into a braid that slithered down over her shoulder, the tip angling toward the crest upon her blazer. Blue pools as deep as the ocean peered upwards to glance around as Mila entered the class and the others who were slowly dwindling in. Nodding hi to most, with a small wave to Mila and Chase, the woman would prepare herself for the day, taking out the items she required, including pencil, notebook and goggles, in case they were needed. Placed upon the desk before her, she awaited the Professor to come in, and her lab partner to show up. She didn’t want to have to do things alone though if that was the case, she’d survive.
13:16:11 Kyran squeezed in just in time, jostling a younger who was passing student as he ducked through the door. He was on time, a rare occurrence at best, but only because he'd been out on the field drilling at dawn. For whatever reason he hadn't slept well and his eyes seemed a bit dim compared to their usual blazing blue. His school uniform was less then crisp and his tie sat slightly askew on his neck, only adding to his vaguely feral appearance. There was an awkward moment while he waited for the others to seat themselves before it became clear where he was supposed to be. It was his first day of classes, he had been placed in a house and gone though all the administrative crap the day before. Now the real gauntlet began. If it wasn't bad enough getting shipped off to his father, now he was stuck at a boarding school for the ether-inclined in the middle of bf nowhere. Well at least he was getting to sit next to a cute girl. He brightened a bit as his eyes settled on trix and he made his way to the stool on her left. "Morn'n." He offered, his words coming out with a flair of south African taint. "You 'forget' to do the reading?" He nodded the text before her, assuming she was trying to cram before class. It's what he would have been doing.
13:33:48 Chase` was, most surprisingly, not in his seat when Mila slipped into hers. Unlike the girl who usually only made it to class just in the nick of time, he had been up and out around the same time as everyone else in his dorm. He looked mightly handsome as always in his three-piece school uniform, antique time-keeping device in one vest pocket with the chain stretched just across to the other. He had attended breakfast, and he used all of that time to eat before heading for Elixirs. He was stopped in the hall by one of Luthor's aides, the student handed him a folded piece of paper that read, The items you requested have arrived. Come to my office to retrieve them. He nodded to himself, thanked the aide who had delivered the note and turned on his heel, moving in the opposite direction of the Elixir's classroom and, upon reaching Luthor's door he raised his fist to knock when the old man's voice bid him enter. He did so and saw the crate in the corner. He moved over to it, dropping his books on top and plucked the note up that was resting upon the edge. He read it. It was a note to Professor Dryke explaining his lateness and telling her that he should be excused for his tardiness. He lifted the crate, it wasn't that heavy so he figured he'd carry it. Luthor spoke up without looking up, "Put it in the science lab on your way to Elixirs. The teacher there is expecting you." Chase nodded, "Yes, Sir. Thank you, Headmaster." Then he exited the office, pulling the door closed silently behind him with his mind. He moved along to the science lab, entered and looked at the teacher who pointed to the back of the room and the counterspace that was already alotted for it. He went back there, put it on the counter and, slipping the note to Dryke into his pocket he took his books, nodded his thanks to the teacher and exited. Then he hurried off to Elixirs. The class was already underway when he entered the room and before Professor Dryke could speak he was pulling the note from his pocket and handing it to her. Then he was heading to his seat next to Mila, to keep the disturbance to a minimum.
13:50:52 Mila rifled through her tomes and notebooks for the ones suited to Elixirs class, and set the unneeded items temporarily in the cupboard by her legs. The movement of students seating themselves and opening books along with a slight murmur of those daring enough to speak, where rewarded by a barked “Silence!” Courtesy of Professor Dryke, their Elixirs Master. A worried frown found her plus lips, her keen gaze narrowing as she wondered at Chase's empty stool. Before the class could get too far, he was entering and calming her visible unrest and agitation – partly in worry for his safety and partly in worry for the poor mark she would likely get without him to aid her. Well prepared for Dryke's behavior, Mila etched into the parchment of the notebook she had open, Looks like Dyke is in a good mood today. … Where were you? Seated in the back of the class it was near impossible for the woman in question to spy just what it was they were doing and so, Mila believed herself relatively safe or at least afforded enough distance and therefore time to dispose of the incriminating evidence were they to be caught. Subtly nudging her notebook toward her partner, she sought to gain his attention to her written words as she customarily did in all their classes. Her friend was a boy who studied with the same concentration and efforts as Trix, it was only a shame that Mila was often trying to distract the two and was likely holding them back without intending such harm. Rudely interrupted by Dryke, the portly and solid woman who sported a few dark hairs on her chin and above her upper lip, began to announce their lesson; “Open your tomes to Chapter X, Page VII.” The students did so. When Mila opened hers she was afforded a page with a title that read, Verus Serum which was afforded a paragraph of calligraphic text that explained it's history and uses, an etched diagram of certain ingredients and a long, elaborate method complete with large, confusing terms and intimidating practises. Mila groaned inwardly and shot Chase a helpless look. This one's on you. “We will be creating Verus Serum today. Initially founded in-” Mila's attention wavered. “The serum has many uses- Fox! Monroe! Silence” Brigitte Fox had just gained herself an attention and of course there was no question of a precious Arcadian student losing any points for their House. “Traditionally used as an Elixir to incite an inability to tell untruths.” Their Professor went on to demonstrate the making of the serum, using items she had conveniently 'prepared earlier' to avoid errors and time wasting in class. When it came down to the bar of silence lifted and their instruction to begin, Dryke announced - “You may begin mixing the serum. Do not forget to label your completed Verus Serum, and complete a 1000 word essay on the Theorem and it's uses in your own time. Due next class. Do not forget!” Now there was a soft din of talking and moving students as they went to collect the ingredients. “Uhhhmmm. So we need, Sage Essence... Aconite Wick, Ginger, Oakwood and Lemongrass.”
13:58:44 Trix would never forget to do a reading. In fact, if he’d looked closer to the textbook he would see it opened to a few pages ahead of the class they were doing today. Trix was ever in motion to be prepared several days in advance when it came to her studies. At times, she even read through the entire text book before classes were half way through the semester, ahead of the reading that was often delved out by the Professors. Most Professors had no issue with Trix being she did the work, she listened well and never spoke back. Even if angered, Trix would keep her opinion to herself to not upset the balance in class. Though at times, as it would anyone, this did get to her. Some of her friends even joked about how she will one day explode and finally give in to actually feeling something other than happy and being nice all the time. It was likely so, given the girl’s reputation. Her eyes lit when she saw her partner had indeed showed up. This was a good thing. After all, she was quite lucky to have a partner like Kyran. Not only did he have a dashing accent, he was also impeccably cute - very pleasing on the eyes. She had enjoyed working with him so far, and looked forward to this particular class for the sake of working with him. Not that she’d say anything to anyone about it though. That wasn’t like her to speak of others, girl talk and the like. She kept any feelings she held to herself. While being social, Trix was rather solitary, if not a little quiet at times. “Its not today’s class, silly. It’s next weeks that I’m reading.” She grinned in a mischievous manner, the smile lighting up her elegant features before offering him a wink. He would know by now how she was in the manner of studying. “You look liked you just rolled out of bed.. Here..” she spoke as she angled her body, fingers moving toward the skewed neck tie which she fixed for him in a manner of seconds. “There, that’s somewhat better.” Before turning toward the class as the Professor began to speak. Her attention was full on Dryke, while turning her pages back toward the class lesson. The Versus Serum. Trix already knowledgeable about the ingredients would wait until Dryke finished speaking then looked toward her partner once more. “This shouldn’t be too bad. These are the items we need. “ As she listed them off. “You get the Sage Essence and Aconite Wick, I’ll gather the other items, okay?” Taking control not that she really -meant- to. She was just happy to be in class learning something, and elixirs were fun. Especially this one in particular. “Then we can start adding what we need. It shouldn’t take us two long at all.” as she smiled toward Kyran.
14:08:31 Brigitte could be found in Elixirs, seated beside Candace. Why Candace rather than Roxana? Because the smallest of the blonde's was more or less her noted second in command and everyone knew the other girl was a little bit daft, and when it came to a class that required the work of a duo? Brig' was not the kind to sacrifice an exceptional score simply to include her friend. No, Roxi was left to sit with Jed in front of them, one of the 'Shifter Jocks' as Braxton was partnered with another of his oaf friends. Their position was in the back row, on the left corner putting them beside Kyran and Trix. It was when the two girls had their heads bent in discussion over an open Vogue magazine carefully contained within their Elixir Tome, “Mm. Yes but I do think indigo blue would be better with my ey-” when Dryke dared to silence them. Momentarily perturbed but smug in the fact that there was no punishment initially dealt, the girls obediently silenced their discussion and paid attention, watching as Dryke created the serum quickly and listening to her instruction. Hmm. Brigitte's conniving mind marked this as an Elixir that could be useful in the Area that was the Hex Heirachy of students. She shared a conspirational look with Candace, linked pinky fingers and marked the page with heart. The lesson continued and a befuddled looking Roxi drifted from between appearing as those there was a bold question-mark lingering over her blond head, and using her index and forefinger to perform a 'walk' along Jed's thigh. He seemed okay with this. When given leave to begin Brigitte who was well accustomed to being served did not rise from her crossed legs recline on the stool but turned her gaze to an inspection of her nails while Candace moved to gather the ingredients, some of which were stored at their bench – others, which were stocked in the 'giant bookshelf' that stretched from the back left corner of the room, to the front left and was stocked with various jarred, boxed and stacked ingredients that students would need for their creations. When she returned with the necessary items, she was putting a used looking, black pot of sorts onto the stove and grabbing up beakers, test tubes, matches and utensils from the equipment cupboard below. Brigitte watched. “We should use this on that French girl, now that she's miraculously resurfaced.” It was against the rules to keep the Elixirs created, or consume them unless otherwise directed.
14:15:33 Kyran me took a side-long look at the chapter in front of Trix, noting the number. He was more behind then he thought. He had read a few paragraphs in the front of book on his second day before getting distracted by a discussion on DurusBall Try-outs, and loosing interest completely. So, he had pretty much tackled the 'acknowledgements.' Whatever was being scribbled up on the board at the front of the class was a mystery to him and for a moment he had the decency to feel just a bit guilty at the thought that he was at least partnered with an uber nerd. A cute nerd , but obviously a nerd none the less. She pretty much had carried him thus far... his only real skill was measuring, and he supposed he was ok at mixing but that had little to do with knowing anything about what they were making. He gave a sheepish grin at the remark on his appearance, displaying his ever shifted fangs, while she straightened the tie.It was only when Dryke shouted that he turned his attention toward the teacher. Even if nothing she said really sank in, he could still pretend like he was listening. Besides, He could always count on Trix to tell him what needed doing. "Got'tcha." He said when it was clear that they were allowed to speak again, popping up to collect the ingredients. Yes simple tasks were best. He dropped them on the counter as soon as he made it back, glancing at the book as if he might be of some help while really he was just waiting for Trix to lead the way.
14:22:18 Chase` could read Mila's agitation in the little movements that she made as he approached, and noticed that she was calming. He smiled a little and slid into hs seat. One hand was pulling the top tome off his pile and placing it on the table's surface, the other was pushing his hair back out of his face. He stuffed the other books, minus a thick spiral notebook, in the cupboard with Mila's. He looked down at the artistic scrawl at the bottom of Mila's notebook page as she nudged it toward him. He rolled his eyes a little and wrote back quickly in his narrow, spidery scrawl, Had to pick up materials for my Secret Santa gift from Luthor's office. He then looked up at Dryke as she spoke and obediently turned to the proper page. He glanced over at Mila when she shot him that particular look. That was one that he got a lot. He just grinned and shook his head, reading over the instructions on how to make this particular brew. He nodded as she listed off the ingredients, "I'll get the stuff from the cupboard, you get out the mortar, pestle, slicing knives and light the burner for me." Well, that was probably for the best anyway. Mila was in no way stupid, but this was more his area of expertise, due to the fact that he could identify different herbs and such by smell, even when they were all jumbled together. He got up and moved toward Brigitte's end of the room, catching her comment about how they should use it on the French girl. He snorted, "How about I pour some of it down your throat and you can entertain us with the list of your sexual partners and just how many diseases you've ended up with because of it?" Always chivlarous. Well, not really. Before he'd become a massive babe he had been the target of Brigitte's little clique more often than not. So it was mostly just an attempt to even the score. He pulled down a jar of this, a jar of that, tucking them against his abdomen so he could carry them all back to the table.
14:37:08 Mila wondered at what 'materials' it was he would need for his Secret Santa and then jealously, she wondered at whom it was. Would he really go to such effort to conspire with Luthor if it was a boy? The Seer continued at sneaking a touch of his bare wrist and grasping at whatever forethought could hint at, but decided against it. Such trickery and manipulation wasn't used on friends. Aaah. Operation stalk Emri is under way. I think he likes Dball! was etched in return. So far, so good. Much easier to work on a gift for another when their interests were similar to her own. Now that they had a 'game plan', Mila nodded “Aye Cap'n.” Too far away to catch any of his comments about Brigitte, Mila was bending to collect the required items just as instructed between glancing at the method and ingredients once more. The dried Sage would require grating, then when mixed with diced, boiled Lemongrass and water, the next step was to pulp both ingredients together in the mortar and pestle. Shotgun prep job. As per usual, Mila would leave the most difficult mixing to Chase and simply work as a particularly good looking, witty and super-duper-charming assistant. Oakwood would also require grating whilst Aconite Wick warranted no alteration until added to the near complete mixture. Now lighting the burner and setting a pot atop it, she was all but ready to begin provided Chase returned with their goodies. “Okay, so you chop and boil the Lemongrass and I'll take care of the grating. So. What's this Secret Santa gift, spill.” An infectious smile dominated Mila's exotic features and she was looking over to a presumably nearby Trix for aid. “Come on, you can tell us.”
14:45:10 [Trix] Sitting next to the Plastics wasn’t exactly a great position for Trix. They often annoyed her, even though she’d keep a smile upon her pretty features. The petite Fae wouldn’t reveal how they truly made her feel, which was likely enough to want to scratch their eyes out for being so mean and downright rude to others. Beatrix though would keep an eye on them in her peripheral when ever doing any sort of Elixirs, especially since they were so close to her that she could. Ever wanting to get the girl’s into trouble, she would listen as they spoke, trying to catch words of their conversations but not being able to over the hum of the rest of the students in class. It would seem Chase beat her to the punch however, giving the BFF’s something to mull over for the moment. Lips curved into a smile, she focused her attention on the mix. The burner was out and already lit by the Kyran would return with the items, all of the placed out upon the table. The other items required were already well placed. “Why don’t you do the mixing. I’ll do the boiling?” She questioned of the male, always willing to help another out. “ And she began to break down the amounts of each that were required for Kyran to measure out then place into the mortar. “Here’s the pestle..” as she would slide it his way while the Bunsen burner flame was light, and atop placed a pot to heat up the items atop. She chopped the lemongrass getting it ready to boil in water, while leaving the sage to be grated by Kryan. Upon hearing Mila’s question, she turned her attention toward Chase a moment, wondering who he had, before looking back to her studies. “Did you get your Secret Santa, Kyran?” She questioned, wondering if he had found upon his pillow, Sunday after the Ball, the note that was placed there. All students had received it. The note contained the name of a student who would be their secret santa. Trix had picked Jeremy, but knew very little about the male overall. “It’s kinda silly but I think its nice too. Getting a surprise gift from someone. I love Christmas, don’t you?” Of course, Trix’s experience of Christmas were most entirely at Hex. She never went home for her Father was never prepared or still too busy grieving over his lost wife to really want to enjoy Christmas. Trix was left with most memories being at Hex for the holidays, but they were good memories all the same.
14:50:46 Brigitte considered her options when it came to whom she could spike with Verus Serum. Dryke had earlier mentioned that they may sample their concoction – at their own risk. It was a difficult Elixir to execute and if made incorrectly could have unsavoury effects such as hives, illusions and nausea among other things. They were strictly not permitted to remove their serum from the class at risk of it being abused on staff and other students. There was no risk of students attempting to recreate it outside of class because some ingredients were simply impossible to find anywhere other than the Herbology Glasshouse or the Elixirs Room and Storeroom, all of which were kept spellbound and locked manually. But for Brigitte, it meant only taking a small vial the room in her pocket. It was an act she had performed before and the risk had surely been worth it then, why not now? Mmm, Queen B. had fond memories of aging Maya another of Braxton's Shifter friends who during their fling, had incited jealousy from the pretty blood. Maya had all but become a tottering elder, wrinkles and all before them. It was at least a day or two before the Healers had set her right! A smile rose to her lips at the recollection, only to drop when Chase dared to insult her. “Come now, Chase. No need to insult me just because you want what you can't have.” Candace returned and Brigitte lazily took her sweet time about slicing some Lemongrass with a knife that was entirely too large and sharp to be necessary for such a menial task. Whispering, “Or we could use it on that Mudboy. He seems to have forgotten his place.”
15:01:54 Kyran was probably one of many boys not the least bit bothered by sitting next to queeny and her minions. Sure they could be nasty little pieces of work but that could be easily over looked due to the fact that they were ungodly hot. Or maybe he was just attracted to bi*ches. Either way Kyran couldn't help but steal a few glances in their direction between grating herbs. He taken to mixing as requested and was trying to stay focused. He was naturally dextrous and pretty good a multitasking but some how he still couldn't quite excel at Elixirs. Most likely due to a profound lack of attention to literature. "hmm?" He looked up at his named, eyes shifting between Trix and the other two. "eh, yeh." In truth he had completely forgotten about it. "I have no idea what to give them though." At least that much was true... seeing as he had just remembered to think about it this instance. He sprinkled the sage into his bowl, adding it gradually, more to keep his hands busy then out of necessity for the recipe. Oh and there was Brigitte's voice, chiding chase. Her words drew Kyran's stare, which he was more than happy to bestow upon her even as he couldn't help thinking how much more attractive she would be if you kept her mouth closed.
15:08:02 Chase` glanced at Brigitte as she retorted to his insult and as he passed back by her he hissed venemously, "I wouldn't go near your disease infested snatch if someone paid me ten million a year for the rest of my life, slut." And then he was a'moving right along. Once he finished collecting the necessary ingredients he returned to the table where Mila was waiting for him to return with everything. He nodded in acceptance of how she had divvied up the tasks and before he opened the jar of Lemongrass, pulling out strands of the substance, he removed his blazer and hung it up on one of the many coatracks around the room. Then he laid the strands of Lemongrass on the cutting board and picked up one of the knives. And then he began to chop. It wasn't as slowly as some of the other people in the room, but it probably wasn't the fastest chop job going on in the room. He looked over at Mila when she began to pester him about what the Secret Santa gift was, "I will only tell you this. I am making it myself and it's probably going to take a while." As his eyes moved back to the cutting board so he could continue, he saw her scribble about how her stalking of Emri was going. His stomach twisted itself into a knot without his face changing the slightest little bit. Well, no, that wasn't true. His smile had slipped, but only for a microsecond! Then he pointed a finger at her, looking up again, "And don't you ask anything else, because I'm not telling. Luthor himself likes my idea, and if it got back to the person I'm giving it to, he'd be pissed his tradition was ruined." He then resumed chopping up the Lemongrass to perfection, each and every little piece meticulously chopped up exactly the way the instructions told them they needed to be. Once that was done he checked the pot of water and, seeing it boiling, he lifted the cutting board and scraped the finely chopped grass into the water, getting every last piece into it before setting both items, the cutting board and the knife, back to where he'd picked them up from.
15:20:03 Mila wasn't wearing her blazer and though students were encouraged to wear the offered, navy smock coats to protect their uniform, they tended to leave off using the hideous things after their first and second year. Learning to avoid making a mess of ones self came with learning to concoct Elixirs. Quick-moving fingers chopped the dried sage into manageable pieces and then she was holding a bunch to the grater and creating the friction required to shave the sage. Didn't smell bad, actually. “Well duh. Implying Casters ever buy anything.” Given that there was no internet nor leaving the grounds for shopping sprees, there was only so much a student could give their gifted, especially when the 'Black Market' of Hex heightened the prices of items a little unfairly. Understandably too, for it wasn't easy to get things so far out in the country, nor past the spellbinding and into the school under the very nose of Luthor. “Mmm. Okay, but you be careful. I'm just going to tip my hand back and so like this.” She pantomimed the movement with an empty hand, as per The Simpsons. “And if you get slipped some Serum, it's your own fault.” Mila swung her legs off the edge of their bench as she measured her shavings of sage and slipped it into the mortar and pestle. Waiting on the Lemongrass, Mila took to grating the Oak. “So are you pumped for Dball on Sat'dy?” The first game of the season was to be played on Saturday, while the first game of the IDL would be broadcasted that night. A whole day of her favorite thing! Mila couldn't keep the smile from her face, even when Dryke.. “Vienne! Off the bench! Make that a 1500 word essay.” Bloody Hell. The girl slipped nimbly from her perch and stood instead. Oops.
15:27:26 Trix wasn’t blind to the fact that Kyran kept looking over to the BFF’s, in particular, Brigitte. She was a little envious though - for had he looked at her the same way, she’d feel so incredibly special. Of course, this would be kept quiet, nothing to reveal she may be a little envious. In fact, it wasn’t like Trix to be a jealous soul, though in this case, it was mainly due to the fact it was Brigitte who despite her good looks was one of the ugliest girls in school. Quite the opposite from little miss Beatrix Ellery. Though, it didn’t surprise her. Most boys looked toward the threesome or other girls for that fact and Trix was hardly the one getting eyed up and down all the time. No, Trix was the friend to everyone. Everyone’s friend. She was barely lucky to get a date to the ball, but that had simply been due to two friends going alone, deciding to go together. It hadn’t been a date date. Mostly likely a pity date if anything at all. Regardless, her attention turned back to the elixir as the water boiled within the pot, the lemongrass added toward it as it seeped within. ”Almost ready.” she quipped, letting the pot boil a little longer before lowering the flame. Leaving the pot to cool down, she glanced down at the mixture which was prepared in the mortar. “Looks good. I believe we have all the measurements exactly as they should be. Do you want to test or shall I?” She questioned seriously, for the only way to know it had been done right was to take a sample of the elixir itself. Otherwise Trix wouldn’t be satisfied. She couldn’t not know if it was perfect unless it was tested. She noted further that Kyran’s attention span was mostly paid toward Brigitte, to which she gave a little sigh. “How about I’ll test it.” And with that she began to pour the water into the mortar straining the lemongrass so that just the juice concoction was poured, in order for Kyran to complete mixing the items just right.
15:31:31 Brigitte was never the type to allow the last word to go to someone else, duh. “Mature. Again, no need to beat yourself up over it Chase. Dirt kids just aren't my type, you know?” She was well and truly ready to go back and forth over the bench that separated them like a tennis match did he continue. Brigitte Fan #1 laughed at her clever remark whilst she began preparing the necessary items. Dryke for the moment was busied with explaining to Jed and Roxana the method a second, and third time. She had no patience. She was not kind. The only reason she managed to gratingly assist these students was because they were both Arcadian, and she would not have anyone in her precious house failing when Magnus students were passing. With Chase out of the way and Cadace dutifully seeing to the majority of the work, Brigitte dangled and flourished the knife in her hand whilst occasionally casting bleu eyes on Kyran. A new boy, worth her attention? Brigitte had a history with Shifters but then, perhaps that was because they could chameleon themselves to the handsome features of an Adonis, and appearance was everything. Turning to Candy, as the other girl asked, “Should we take some? Would Dryke notice?” Reciting their most valued vow, Brig' replied whilst twirling a blonde lock around one finger... “What. Would. Barbie do?” Then, she was grinning and slamming the knife down into the cork chopping board hard enough to make it stick, vertically. Noticing Kyran's attention, the Queen B offered him a wink and blew him a suggestive kiss.
15:39:24 Kyran tossed the rest of the primary ingredients together, realizing they the clock was ticking and Dryke was most likely going to be coming around to check on their progress at any moment. He slid the bowl over the Bunsen burner, letting his capable fae partner take it from their and moved to tidy there space a bit, leaving the last ingredients off the the side for Trix to add as needed. Ugh. Secret santa. The thought came creeping back like a bad memory. Well at least he knew who she was.. what to get her was another story. She was a girl, but obviously not the regular kind sense she was the first to sign up for his team this year. Did that mean the cop-out gift of soaps was out? Kyran had been just about to take a seat, reaching for the oak to copy Mila when Drykes shrill tone rebuked the girl right back to her feet. Kyran straightened up as well, his eyes skipping to follow the professor. He was about to jump on the DurusBall topic but Brigitte was winking at him. He grinned back, flashing a set of vampire-esk fangs beneath his purposely bright blue eyes. He arced a brow, tipping his head a bit towards the door as if to say 'after class?". However, before he could complete the little exchange Trix's sigh drew him back to the task at hand and he winced inwardly, offering a guilty smile in way of apology. Kyran scrapped the rest of the dry mixture together, dusting a bit of oak powder off his hands before moving around closer to Trix, where they could both work on adding the ingredients and he wouldn't be looking right at Brigitte. "You think that's a good idea?" He eyed the cooling liquid skeptically as he swirled in some last touches.
15:45:13 Chase` rolled those chestnut orbs at Brigitte's typical self-centered remark and he smiled his most charming smile, "Hey Brigitte, why don't you get down on the ground and roll around so that the world will actually revolve around you the way you seem to think it does?" He couldn't help but chuckle as Mila was reprimanded and muttered under his breath so that Dryke wouldn't hear, but Mila probably would, "Come on now. It's not her fault she's not tall enough to see over the edge of our bench Professor." That probably would have earned him an extra thousand words or so on his essay if Dryke had heard. He reached out and poke Mila, "Don't you dare dose me with this crap. If I lose a few hours along the way I'll never speak to you again." She'd still get her gift of course, but dosing him with a Truth Serum would be a major violation of his trust and would therefore earn her the permanent cold shoulder from him. Even if he did like her. As he glanced around the room he noticed Brigitte making eyes at Kyran and he shook his head, "I wouldn't go there, bro. More guy have been inside of her than all the sporting goods stores in all the world." And them Mila was mentioning Durusball to him, "Yeah. I've got some new moves that should surprise the Magnus bastards. I think we'll win for sure." He wasn't quite as crazy for the sport as she was since he was a farm boy from Iowa. He liked it because it was fun to play and it was great exercise. Not to mention the fact that the field was his domain. He had any number of underhanded, legal tricks up his sleeve to get his team a turnover because of the fact that he was an Earth Mage.
15:59:46 Mila frowned a little at the ongoing back and forth between Chase and Brigitte. “Hey..” She said quietly, “Stop, okay?” The B.F.F's were more or less part of the scenery at Hex, either deal with it or don't but it was no use getting himself in trouble just for a little banter, right? Given that he was talking over a desk for Brigitte to hear him, he could very well catch Dryke's attention. Luckily for him, Dryke hadn't caught word of his retort in Mila's defense, but she had heard the chatter between Chase and one of her star, Arcadian pupils. “Right. Matheson.” The burly, butch woman lumbered her frumpy self to the back row and gripped one of Chase's cute little ears between her pudgy, apothecary stained fingers. With a yank, she reprimanded him so loudly and angrily that spittle expelled from her moist, masculinely hair-framed lips and landed on his face “I would wash your mouth out with soap – but instead of wasting my time, I can waste yours. Grub duty at lunchtime and then you're cleaning the Crux Boys bathroom.” Another yank for emphasis and she was barrelling away, “Another peep out of you and it will be the lash!” Mila stared daggers at their Professor's back and was sweet enough to brush his cheek with the end of a towel from their bench. “Ugh. I'll save you some lunch.” If she grabbed him a sandwich or something, he may just have time to finish it before heading to the class they had after his wasted lunch period. Changing the subject, she continued brightly “At least we have practise tonight! I'm so glad we both made the team again, we're going to rip it espesh' since we have an epic Captain now. Them dragonflies wont know what hit them.” As the lemongrass had finished boiling, she passed him the grated Oak and Acolite, while tipping the grass carefully into the measuring cup. Then she was pouring the required amount in the pestle with the sage and beginning to mash heartily.
16:06:34 [Trix] “it’s the only way we know it works..” She commented loosely, offering a slight shrug. “It has to be perfect, so what better way than to try it to find out. I’m pretty sure we got everything the way it should be, but a test would just ensure we have. All it means is I’ll take a sip, then you can ask me a question. If I lie, then it doesn’t work. If I tell the truth - then it works.” The words were spoken as the mixture was all put together, stirred gently in same motion until she set the small wooden stir stick aside. The liquid now cooling, she glanced toward Mila and Chase to see where they were up to, landing on Mila a second with an apologetic look in her eyes for the girl’s extra essay work. Mouthing the word sorry, she offered a light smile Mila’s way, which was her way of offering to help if Mila required it before turning back to the moment, ignoring the BFF’s for the rest of the class. Trix couldn’t join in the conversation the other two were having about DurusBall because she didn’t play it herself. She was an avid spectator however at all the games, and know who most of the players were on the teams. All teams. Of course, she favorited Crux since it was her house. Her attention on the mixture, she retrieved an eyedropper from one of the drawers and placed it into the mixture so she could retrieve a sample. “Okay. Worse thing can happen is I break out in hives, or start having wacky illusions, but this way we know we’ve done it right. We need to get an A on this..” What she meant to say -she- needed an A but surely a high mark in class wouldn’t hurt Kyran either. Without waiting, she brought the stopper to her mouth, then let it drop upon her tongue a morsel of amount that was required. Swallowing the ungainly liquid, she waited a moment to see if there were any immediate reactions. “So far so good!” she responded with the hint of relief in her beautiful almond shaped hues. “Now, ask me something that well, I suppose is personal enough. This way I can see if I can lie to you about the answer.” She grinned, as she glanced his way waiting.
16:10:27 Brigitte 's brows rose as she eyed his teeth; that was another thing, Shifters liked to bite. The blonde continued to eye him much to Roxi's chagrin who knew, that though she was allowed to have-at anyone she liked – if they were Brigitte's she'd best back off. Hmph! Brig' always took the best ones. Plus, gloss coated lips parted to deliver another clever, cutting remark at the Earth Elemental when Dryke cut in and delivered a better insult for her. Punishment. True to tradition, Brigitte went without so much as a stern look and so, looking every bit as smug as she felt, she offered Chase a few fluttered fingers in a Princess wave. Sucker. For once Candace was relatively quiet though she did allow herself an interlude to snicker at their latest enemies fate, but for that, she was busy completing the work of two people mostly unassisted. Meanwhile Roxana sidled over with a sway of hips that sent her skirt fluttering inappropriately and bending over the bench behind hers – Brigitte's and Candaces – to afford Jed the pleasing view of her underwear. If you could call it underwear. Her need to speak with her friends was not false and with a most lost expression on her face she asked them “I found Sage. But it says we need Greated Sage. Where do I get Great Sage?” The poor girl looked so befuddled and fearful of failure, but Brigitte could not keep from the facepalming. Candace was left to explain.
16:18:23 Kyran arced a brow at Chases comment, taking a second candid look at Brigitte and smirking. "I take it your not speaking from experience?" He mused, pretending to be completely occupied with the serum now. Obviously Brigitte and Chase had some sort of history, but what it was could be anyones guess. Kyran had a feeling they just enjoyed trying to make each other miserable. Actually, in Birgitte's case she might just enjoy making anyone miserable. Unfortunately for him, her looks still superceded her attitude, and from here she looked pretty good. Plus, he doubted she went for just anyone, she probably had her pick. Kyran had never liked being picked, but there were exceptions to every rule. It seemed for a moment that the blathering would cease of it's own accord but Dryke was suddenly back and yanking on Chases ear with a hissing tone that had Kyran wincing in sympathy. "Bloody 'ell." He muttered under his breath only once the teacher had ceased her rage and bustled away again, apparently satified that she sufficiently. Brigitte, who had been equally at fault went unscathed, a fact Kyran took note of. It was now very clear that if you were in Arcadia you'd probably get away with murder in Elixirs if you were so inclined. Kyran had managed to give Trix his full attention again now that the class had fallen into a sort of terrified silence and he cocked his head quizzically at her. "sooo..." He watched her take a sip, sorting out her plan in his mind as his eyes followed it down her delicate throat. When it seemed like she was going to survive , he continued. "In other words, I'm asking you a question, a personal question, which i probably don't know the answer to, and your supposed to lie... at which point your going to tell me if you lied?" He frowned, then shrugged. "What's your cup size?" at least this way he'd have a inkling, and he couldn't help but let his gaze slip downward jutt a bit before rising back to her face. Ok yes he had asked that mainly because he enjoyed causing awkward situations. They are just down right entertaining. And secondly, he was 17, it was the first thing that came to mind.
16:27:14 Chase` resisted the urge to make a disgusted face when his last name slipped out of Dryke's mouth. Then she was snatching his ear and tugging on it while flecks of her spit landed on his cheek. He couldn't help but shudder a little as he muttered, "Yes, Professor," while she walked away. He let Mila wipe his face though his dark eyes were glittering with malice as he looked over at Brigitte. This wasn't over. For sure. He couldn't wait to catch the B.F.F's alone where he could spring a cleverly-laid trap. Oh it was going to be nasty and incredibly public. This his glare shifted to Dryke before dropping, "One day, that bitch is going to get exactly what she deserves and I'm going to be there to see it when she does." He took the towel from Mila and ran it over his face to capture anything she had missed before dropping it onto his stool and focusing on their work. She was going to be disappointed in him for the rest of the class, unfortunately. His jealously, upon which was stacked the fact that he now had to scrub the nasty ass toilets that his fellow housemates used, upon which was stacked the fact that he would get almost nothing to eat until dinner meant he was too pissed off to do more than grunt and affirmative or negative answer to any questions she might have about the work. But who knew? Maybe she would be understanding and not be angry with him over it. But he muttered a belated, "Thanks," to her offer of saving him some lunch. It would be nothing compared to what he would have eaten has he been allowed to go to lunch.
16:36:59 Mila awkwardly left him to his stewing, understanding why he may be a little perturbed but then, hadn't he been the one to begin the insult war with Brigitte this class? Hadn't been the one to refuse to let it go? Grub duty wasn't so bad, and would likely take a lot less time than what would be needed to ooze another five hundred words into an already difficult essay. Once they had mixed the Sage Essence and boiled Lemon Grass pulp with the grated Oaks bark and left it to stew and boil, a slight misty vapour of pale green steamed. “Ugh. It's supposed to be darker..” Ohwell. At least nothing had blown up in their faces, blender-splattered everywhere nor did this particular serum have a waftin stench – indeed, some of the Elixirs they crafted contained anything from peacock egg, slug, onion, widow venom to rat intenstines. The smells in this class could be a great deal worse than the pleasant apothecary scents of lemon and sage. “Weelll..as you're going to kill me if I make you try it. I will.”After filing a vial and marking their names upon the assignment which would later be given to Dryke, Mila dared a spoonful of the mixture. Not bad. Tasted as tolerable as it's scent and once swallowed, she beckoned of him, “Ask me anything.” Overhearing Trix and Kyran's discussion she grinned, "And if you ask me what cup size, don't think I wont get you back for it."
16:38:18 Trix nodded in response to the male. “I’ll tel you if I lied. And if I tell you truth. I’m not about to jeopardize my A in class to mess up this one assignment.” She spoke lightly, waiting upon the question though when it came she was on the ready to lie. Yet a hint of a blush rose over her cheeks. She had expected something personal, but what exactly it might have been she wasn’t sure. “30 B” The words spilt out of her mouth, as if they were forced even though she’d tried to say something completely different. Immediately she flushed further as her hand rose upward to cover her mouth, her eyes widened by the response so it became fairly obvious she hadn’t lied, but been forced to tell the truth. For a moment she turned her back to the male, taking the time to compose herself before peering back over her shoulder. “It works..! I tried to lie. But I couldn’t..” Though how long the serum she had in her would last was anyone’s guess. “We managed it. Now we can tie everything up. Get it all cleaned and we’re done. “ As she glanced around the classroom to see if anyone else was finished, smug in the fact that they were the first to successfully complete the instructions. Inwardly she felt bad for Chase. Dryke had been giving him so much trouble as of late that Trix couldn’t help look his way and mouth another sorry, but it was likely he’d not see her now he was so intent on his work. Turning back to Kryan she expelled a sigh breath of air through her lips. “Can we save favouritism, much ?” She eyed the three Blonds as she whispered softly, shaking her head. Class was pretty much over for them both now.
16:50:22 Chase` watched as Mila bottled up a portion of their Serum and the moment both their names on it he was instantly taking to the task of cleaning everything up. He was listening as Mila spoke about tsampling their work and once she had taken that spoonful he continued with the cleanup. As annoyed as he was, when she told him to ask her anything, then cautioned him about the certainty of revenge if he inquired about her cup size, he asked the first question that popped into his mind. As he dumped out the pot and turned off the stove he asked, "Do you think that I would make a good boyfriend?" It was out before he knew it and he instantly knew it was the wrong question. What if she said no? What if she said hell no? He covered up his moment of regret by scrubbing the cutting board before drying it off and shoving it back into it's place with unnecessary force and starting to rinse the mortar and pestle. He was paying close attention to her answer, watching her face out of the corner of his eye.
16:59:14 Mila figured this for a fairly boring question and just as the serum had affected Trix, the word “Yes,” had forced itself from her lips as if playing her vocal chords for a puppet. Their question and answer complete, the girl pouted her irritation, “What a boring question. You know I'd say yes even without the Verus Serum. Way to ruin my fun.” The brunette took the vial to the front of the class and returned looking a little pale. The mixture didn't sit well in her stomach but then, theirs hadn't been quite right, nor wrong enough to make her feel more than a little ill. They would be lucky to secure an A, and more likely to find themselves in the B end of the stick – a likely occurrence when one saddled a good student with Mila who was too busy talking about Durusball to notice that she had used too much Sage Essence, not enough Oak nor had she left them to boil long enough. They finished with time to spare, time that was usually used to begin their essays, one for each Elixir they ever made just to thrum more knowledge into their overflowing minds. As for the Verus Serum, it would likely remain in effect for the next few hours, leaving Trix and Mila at the mercy of others amusement.
17:03:44 [Trix] Had the essay to complete, which would cover homework, but Trix would get it done on her next free period so that it was out of the way. She was up to date on all other articles of home work needed for other classes. Packing up her bag, text and tomes in hand she offered a wave to Mila and Chase before moving off to exit out of the class. The elixir in her but luckily on a mere few people know she’d taken it. As long as no one asked her anything personal, in the next few hours, she would be perfectly fine.
17:11:43 Chase` clenched his jaw when Mila pouted about his question and he watched as she went up and delivered their vial of today's mixture. When she returned his eyes were back on the clean up work and she could catch him muttering, "Your mistake was assuming that the question was for you." But once he finished cleaning up he couldn't help but turn toward her, leaning his hip against the bench and folding his arms over his chest, "Fuck it. Fine. Have you ever had sex?" He still looked pretty angry, and he was speaking loud enough for others to hear. And there would be plenty more questions to follow this one, she could count on that. Oh he would feel badly about it later, but she had, unknowingly, set the match to his fuse. Dryke had only burnt it down until, finally, he was blowing up. He arched a brow at her as he looked down at her, sitting on her stool. His eyes were boring into her face and, if she made the mistake of looking into them they would have a powerful pull to keep her from breaking his stare. She would see his frustration there, and a small amount of the hurt he was feeling, though she would have no idea why.
"Alright. Class..." the Professor said as he paced around in front of his class. "Now. Where there any comments or questions about the reading?". The class stared at him. A sigh came from his lips, followed by a laugh. "Okay. For those of you who read... Here is a chance to get into my good graces. What was your favorite part of the reading?". Shawn gave the kids a chance to show that they at least tried. A Tritus boy raised his hand. A nod. "Alright. What do ya got?" he said as he moved to rest himself on the edge of his desk at the front of the class. The little guy slowly spoke 'I...I like the part where Heidegger says that Science doesn't think'. Shawn clasped his hands together. "There we go! Five points to Tritus" he said as the little guy seemed to shrink back. "Yes. Now. Why would Heidegger say that?". The class was blank. "Riiiiiight. So, if you recall from yesterday, Heidegger makes a point to say that Man's outlook on nature is very warped. Again. Once we look at things in terms of utility... Nature is no longer able to explore and develop its own identity. Science has seemingly been responsible for that warp. 'Thus we shall never experience our relationship to the essence of technology so long as we merely conceive and push forward the technological, put up with it, or evade it. Everywhere we remain unfree and chained to technology, whether we passionately affirm or deny it'" he ended with a quote. "Now, from our reading of Heidegger... We are introduced to Nietzsche. Now. Who here has read anything by Nietzsche?" he asked the class. Several hands went up. A nod from Shawn. "What did you think of what you read? Did you like it?" there was nodding and murmurs saying that much. "Now. To me, Nietzsche's place in Western Philosophy is pretty over stated" said with a chuckle as he moved behind his deck and dug around in his drawers and eventually pulled out an apple. The professor took a bite into the apple and chewed. Leaving the students to stare at him. After he swallowed the bit of apple, he laughed. "Oh. Right..." he moved back to sit on the edge of the front of the desk. "Right. Well. You see. This is how I look at it. Which pretty much means I'm right. Kierkegaard was writing and pretty much was known for writing what Nietzsche pretty much wrote. In fact, Nietzsche pretty much faded away. It wasn't till Hiedegger, that Nietsche gains any amount of attention. It's like... Say a very popular movie comes out. And people really like the movie. And the director says that he was inspired by some completely unknown movie. Suddenly that movie gains a lot of popularity. Now, you could make the argument that the other movie is still very influential by giving the inspiration to the director. But, while it did give inspiration... It wasn't anything on its own. Or something..." he took a bite of the apple and proceeded to stare at the clock. "Alright... Well. Read the Descartes portion in the book... I'm throwing a lesson plan out the window. Tomorrow, have an analysis of Heideggers work to turn in. Ussual rules apply. I don't care how long it is, as long as it is good... Sooo. Get out of here, you scamps". With that, the professor let the kids go.
17:20:10 Mila never assumed the question was regarding whether or not he would make a good boyfriend for her but for anyone. Then, before she could retort, he was asking her a question. An embarrassing question. One that she didn't want half the sixth years in their Elixirs class to know the answer to, but before she could stop it – Verus Serum worked it's magic, and the word “Never.” burst from her mouth while she stared wide eyed, and horrified. Dainty hands shot to cover her plush lips, but the damage was done and her cheeks were flaming while others snickered, commented and Mila just knew, Brigitte would never forget. Almost ready to pull a 'burgered' reaction, her smoke eyes filled with tears but before she could dare to shed them, Dryke was dismissing them from the period. Her eyes never met his for as soon as the command left their Professor's putrid mouth she was snatching her books from the bench and hurrying from the class in a swing of sleek, long hair. It was fair to presume she would not be spending her free period with Chase, nor would she be getting him that sandwich but Mila was too cheery to hold a grudge. Like as much she would be apologising at Dball practise and mending whatever rift had come between them.
17:28:32 Chase` watched her reaction and, for a split second, he felt a small part of the guilt he was going to inevitably feel later. But then Dryke was dismissing them and he slammed shut his book, piled them up loudly and left the room with a snarl on his face that warned anyone who looked at him that he was in no mood to be fucked with. His free period was next, and so he went outside to start in on his Elixirs essay. He knew he wouldn't see Mila out there, and he knew she would sit as far away from him as possible in any other classes they shared today. Not to mention the fact that he had lost out on that sandwich she was going to bring him from the lunch period he was not allowed to attend. Today was not a good day for him, but that was his own fault.
